Why GRE?

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an enrollment requirement for many graduate schools overseas. Anyone who is planning to pursue their Master's abroad can take the GRE.

The GRE has been designed to check the academic awareness of the aspirant. Its scores are accepted by thousands of business and law schools worldwide. This test is conducted to enable educational institutions to identify applicants who are academically capable of completing the business or law program successfully.

The GRE is conducted by the ETS (Educational Testing Service) and is one of the world’s greatest assessment programs for graduate admissions to business or law schools. Eligibility for GRE

GRE does not have any specific eligibility criteria. You can register for GRE if you wish to study law, medicine; engineering, etc. candidates who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree can take the test.

The GRE exam has no age limit as well. Please check the university website to check any prerequisites.

Furthermore, there are no specific eligibility criteria for the GRE Subject test as well. A valid identity proof along with your signature is enough to apply for the GRE Subject test. Also, make sure you select a subject that is closely related to your major.

GRE Exam Fees

The GRE fee in India is roughly $228. GRE Subject Test costs $150 approximately.

An extra fee is charged in case any student wants to change the center or reschedule the test.

Score Reporting

GRE Scores

Graduate Record Examinations score for analytical writing is 0-6 in half-point increments. For both verbal and quantitative reasoning the score range is 130-170 in one-point increments.

The highest score received in Graduate Record Examinations is 340 with a 6 in analytical writing. The Graduate Record Examinations section scores are listed separately instead of the usual total like most other tests. There are no negative markings.

The Graduate Record Examinations Subject Tests have a score range of 200-990 in 10-point increments.

On The Test Day

Arrive at your GRE Test Center

  • carry your original documents to the test center as photocopies will not be accepted
  • keep all your personal belongings outside including your cell phones, watches, and other electronic belongings
  • There will be no breaks during the test

Identity Documents

  • carry your identity proof such as your passport and other documents to the test center
  • some centers might ask you for a finger scan

During the Test

  • you can carry a pen, pencil and eraser and your ID inside the examination room
  • Prior to the beginning of the Listening test, check if you can hear the recording clearly. If you have any issues raise your hand and inform the invigilator
  • You will not be given 10 minutes after the Reading section, so make sure you write the answers on the answer sheet when completing each section.
